Boho Bungalow in the Rice Fields of Penestanan

“The villa is a poor design and is tacked onto the back of the main property where there is currently a Russian family permanently residing. If you want to use the swimming pool you will need to use it around their schedule of breakfast time, swimming lessons, friends and their children. When we did use it, it felt like we were in their space. It was a very awkward situation with all their personal items strewn everywhere and no opportunity to lounge around the pool. The villa itself is typical Balinese, clean and has a lovely outdoor bathroom. The toilet however is inside with no door we needed to ask each other to stand outside the villa when using the toilet. Pia and her staff were very helpful and respectful unlike the owner.”

“I had an absolutely beautiful stay at Bungalow Jepun! It felt like a wonderful sanctuary and home away from home in the heart of Penestanan which itself is a lovely peaceful village / neighbourhood with lush walkways through the rice paddies - the perfect antidote to the hustle and bustle of central Ubud (which is also easily accessible). Barbara and Henry were so warmly welcoming to me. I really appreciated all of my interactions with them and their thoughtful recommendations :) My arrival (after a late evening flight into Denpasar) was smooth and easy with Blue their recommended driver. The bungalow itself was spotless, light, private (down some steps from the main villa and surrounded by greenery in the garden) and very comfortable. Yellow Flower Café and Intuitive Flow (a sweet little yoga studio with amazing views) are just a few steps away in the neighbourhood. I would return without hesitation and highly recommend!”

“I love the location of Villa Jepun…there is a great nearby cafe, yoga centre, massage and supermarket. Barbara gave me lots of helpful tips. I have stayed in Villa Semua Suka before and had a wonderful experience so I came back. I felt safe staying here as a single female and I felt safe walking to and from the villa and the surrounds during daylight. At night I chose to frequent the local cafe or be back at the villa by night fall.”
